Monty

The purchase of Michael Newman's next hunt horse to ride in the Norfolk Hunt was completed on May 14, 2026.
Monty was located in Aberdeen North Carolina and hunted there for a couple of years. He is a Friesian Percheron cross and stands about 16.1 hands high. He arrived at Wildstar Farm late in the week of May 20th.

New Filly

This filly was born on the farm where Monty lived when Mike came to see him . The filly was born the day before these pictures were shot.

Monty's ad said:

Price Reduced. Owner going through a divorce and needs to sell. Montague "Monty: - (for L or S) Friesian/Percheron Cross 13yo, 16.1. He's most suited for trail riding & hunting. He's hunted 2 seasons w Moore county hounds. He can hilltop, go in 2nd or behind in 1st. Easy keeper, does have a slight crib but manageable. He currently lives out 24-7 but he is just as good in the stall. Minimal maintenance. The sweetest puppy dog personality and loves his people. Offered due to no fault of his own.

Medical Reports

Squamous Ulcers

Monty shows some squamous ulcers on 18 August 2026.
On 15 September 2026 he was scoped a second time after a month of GastroGuard treatment resulting in this: formal report.

Lameness Eval

On 22 June 2026 a few months after the purchase Dr. Cullen of C3Equine did a lameness evaluation and then injected hocks, stifles and did a Miso back treatment.

Blood Serum

Blood Serum was taken on 9 June 2026 by Becky (his vet) who said: "Monty's ACTH was normal and his insulin was high normal - I don't think we need to get too worried about the insulin but based on his body composition I would keep an eye on his weight and keep him on a low starch diet."
