For use at the 2005 Soaring Convention the Dragonnorth Group donated a set of pots for sale or use as prizes. The pots shown in this story are the ones which were donated. A related story shows how to Make a Bowl.

This pair of mugs is made of porcelain. The interior is finished in Shaner White. The exterior in Mason Satin Black. The mugs stand about 5 inches high.
The glider is cut into the soft clay and then protected with a wax resist when the pot is glazed. The black glaze does not adhere to the wax resist letting the white image show through.
This bowl is about 9 inches across. Small gliders are cut into the clay around the rim. The glaze pools in the images making them appear as dark lines against a lighter background.
These bowls have a built in chopsticks rest. A small glider image is cut into the clay between the two indentations of the rest.
The chopsicks bowls are about 6 inches across. The incised glider is difficult to see in photographs, here it is at the top center of the picture.
The darker glaze is Temoku. Depending on how thick it is applied it ranges from a deep brown, almost black to a pale tan. Lightly applied it shows the ridges in the underlying clay as lines.
The orangeish color at the left was supposed do be Iron Red, as seen in the bowl below. Unfortunately the glaze was mixed improperly and resulted in this color. Because it was an error how to get the color is not known and it can not be duplicated.
This bowl was not part of the donation, it is included here to show the deeper red of the Iron Red glaze when mixed properly. The bowl is about 10 inches across and glazed with Temoku on the left and Iron red on the right.
