The story on this page is a selection of interesting photos in the directory: 2008 Q4. The complete set of photos is available at: 2008 Q4.

Mike came on the 9th of October to dig a couple of test holes. These help in planning the site layout, drainage patterns and the type of foundation required.

Test holes were also dug in the outdoor arena area.

Welcome to Wildstar.

As we dug the first thing we found was an interrupted phone wire. This explains why when the phone company came to mark the wires for Dig Safe they could not get any signal when they applied the sender at the pole. Applying the sender at the house end allowed them to trace it back to this point.

Note the placement of the manhole relative to the drain pipe.

A deep trench was opened to bring water to a frost free hydrant in the existing two stalls in the garage.

A total of 4 pipes were installed. One for water, two small ones for phone, internet and cable wire and a spare 3 inch for possible use for electricity in the future.

When cleaning out the pipe tail at the stream end a second pipe was discovered. The excavation was expanded to repair this pipe too. Once the pipe was exposed a steady stream of water came out. This is in spite of the pipe being partially blocked with silt. This picture shows the pipes in the trench near the manhole. Note the broken telephone wires above the pipes.

The lower pipe required 8 inch drain pipe to repair it.

Once it is connected water comes out to the stream embankment.

A good view of the two pipes.

A good view of the two pipes.

Laying in 6 inch pipe to repair the upper pipe.

Expert machine handling.
