The story on this page is a selection of interesting photos in the directory: Mikes Pots 2005 Q1. The complete set of photos is available at: Mikes Pots 2005 Q1.

This is the finished bowl. The clay used was a cone 10 porcelain. The glaze is a heavy coat of Temokku.

Given to Ron Gruner for the Ski house.

These bowls have a built in chopsticks rest. A small glider image is cut into the clay between the two indentations of the rest.

These ran so badly they had to be chipped from the shelf. Hours of work for naught...

The chopsicks bowls are about 6 inches across. The incised glider is difficult to see in photographs, here it is at the top center of the picture.

The darker glaze is Temoku. Depending on how thick it is applied it ranges from a deep brown, almost black to a pale tan. Lightly applied it shows the ridges in the underlying clay as lines.

The orangeish color at the left was supposed do be Iron Red, as seen in the bowl below. Unfortunately the glaze was mixed improperly and resulted in this color. Because it was an error how to get the color is not known and it can not be duplicated.

This bowl was not part of the donation, it is included here to show the deeper red of the Iron Red glaze when mixed properly. The bowl is about 10 inches across and glazed with Temoku on the left and Iron red on the right.
