X-ray of the hoof after the nail is removed. More X-rays available in the associated directory. The horse is unconscious and moved to an operating "table". Sterile wraps prevent contamination of the wound. The little black dot is the actual nail hole. The hoof is dug into to inspect the injury and remove any bone fragments. Fortunately there is no damage to the tendon sheath. At the end of the operation she is removed to a padded room where she will wake up and be safe from falling as is still unstable. Some bone chips got removed. Lab results from samples. This June 29 view shows the hospital shoe. It was taken while looking for why Luna's leg is swollen. That could be caused by infection or by a piece of bone that was not removed. No fragment is seen. In this July 9th view Luna still has a swollen leg. Here the shoe has been removed and again the Veterinarian is looking for a possible bone fragment or other injury.
