Story FootingUpgrade created by Michael Newman |
The Light Stride footing now in its fourth year became much too stiff and hard. After consultation with the manufacturer IGK Equestrian and our footing installer Fields and Footings we decide to update the footing. An update was purchased from the IGK called Equiblend and installed locally by Fields and Footings.

The footing update came in bags and was spread throughout the ring. The original Lite Stride surface was broken up by a machine that looks like a small roto-tiller. It took many passes to get the existing footing to loosen up.
These clumps started to appear about a month after the footing was updated in late fall of 2024. They were not noticable at the time of the installation.
Scattered bits of fiber appear.
Note the white fibers which have started to appear all over the ring. The sheet of paper is a piece of copy paper for scale.
